Hepatitis C Health Education Campaign

We are working with a number of organizations, local physicians and community leaders to stop this epidemic often spread through unsanitary and unsafe practices such as reuse of needles in healthcare and reuse of infected razors by barbers.

Goals: To reduce spread of Hepatitis C through education and prevention.

Partners:  Family Health Organization of Wisconsin and Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA) (www.appna.org)

Highlights.   With support from our partners, OMEED ran a educational campaign aimed at children in public schools, healthcare providers, barbers and religious leaders in Azad Kashmir

Dr. Tareen visited local community leaders and physicians and gave presentations and distributed materials about Hepatitis C, how it is spread and how it can be prevented.  Mrs. Rehana Tareen met with women healthcare supervisors who work in remote villages.  The supervisors were given booklets, posters and brochures to take back to villages and share with people and other health workers.
